After nearly 20 years behind the chair, I knew how much the right education could change a stylist’s confidence. As an educator and platform artist for RUSK, an independent educator, and an early educator with Masters of Balayage, I traveled across the country helping stylists understand technical ideas and put them to work.
When my wife and fellow cosmetologist, Cady, and I opened ATRIUM Head Spa & Wellness in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, we discovered how much there was to learn, even with our combined experience.
Learning the service steps was only the beginning. We needed to understand scalp observations, guide sensitive conversations, choose equipment, plan services, price our work, and train a team. The education we had taken left questions we still had to answer ourselves.
We built ATRIUM while raising a one-year-old and a six-year-old and continuing to work behind the chair. Our time mattered. We needed clear, thorough training we could fit around our lives and put to use without wasting hours searching for missing answers.
Cady developed ATRIUM’s client experience, from greeting and consultation to service flow and staff training. I built the systems supporting that experience, then designed and built the AIMT learning platform around what we learned together. That includes the course experience, personal learning guide, and practical tools that help students understand the material and put it to work.
The Smart Service Sidekick began as something I built for our own team: a way to move through a service without stopping to remember what came next. It reflects the purpose behind AIMT: help practitioners understand what they’re doing, why it matters, and how to use it confidently with a client.
Even now, I often continue developing AIMT after our children go to bed. I understand how valuable those quiet hours can be, and why the time you spend learning needs to count.
We created the American Institute of Modern Trichology to bring that care to professional education: clear explanations, thoughtful training, and useful tools that support you as you put your knowledge to work.

Learn faster without learning less.
Head Spa Certification Course is AIMT’s first program. It covers scalp observation, the complete service, client communication, pricing, sanitation, and professional scope.
Study through written instruction, visuals, and video. Use Listen Mode for supported lessons, and work through practical questions before applying the material with clients.
Course checkpoints ask you to explain and apply what you know. Feedback helps you see what needs work. The required learning standard stays the same.
Ask questions as you learn.
Cadence is built into the course. Ask for an explanation, work through a service decision, or get feedback on your reasoning without leaving the lesson.
Guidance is grounded in the AIMT curriculum. It supports learning; it does not replace the course material, professional judgment, or practical experience.
Take your training into the treatment room.
Follow the current step, pacing, upcoming transitions, and short answers to client questions while you work. Core 60-minute and Extended 90-minute reference formats keep the service structure close at hand.
Service maps, planning guides, and reset checklists help you carry the lessons into your day-to-day work.
Understand the science behind your practice.
AIMT’s public Education Library explains hair and scalp topics with references and visible limits to the evidence. The Public Research Library helps you find those articles and the scientific sources behind them.
Sources, claims, and educational pages are checked before publication. Ordinary-risk material may receive automated clearance after meeting the review requirements. Higher-risk, unresolved, or flagged material requires human approval.
A credential earned through learning.
Enrolling gives you access to the course. Earning the credential requires completing the required training and passing the Final Certification Assessment.
Each issued credential has a unique ID that can be publicly verified through AIMT. It documents the AIMT education standard you met; it does not replace state licensure or expand your legal scope of practice.
An institute you can keep growing with.
Head Spa Certification is the starting point. AIMT is developing further education in hair loss, scalp care, and advanced hands-on head spa practice.
Deeper research-connected learning, simulated practice, and further professional reference experiences are future directions. They are not included as available features of today’s course.
